Accessibility
Access keys, placed in anchor tags, provide a way to navigate around a site by using a keyboard instead of a mouse.
Most modern browsers support the use of access keys. On Windows and Linux you can press Alt + an access key, and on a Mac you would press Control + an access key.
This site utilizes the following access keys:
- 0 = Access Key Details
- 1 = Home/Index Page
- 3 = The Site Map
- 5 = Site Information
- 9 = Contact Form
I have tried to make this site as accessible as possible. Validating, standards compliant XHTML 1.0 coding, and CSS were used as the foundation. This site was tested, and works cross-browser, using Internet Explorer 6, Opera 8.51, and Firefox 1.5, all for the PC. I do not have a Mac to test it with, but it looked good in the Safari screenshots from iCapture. While some of the text on this site is set to be a certain fixed pixel size, the main content areas are not. The text size can be increased using Internet Explorer, and handle about two size increases in Firefox without breaking the layout.
This site complies with all of the U.S. Federal Government Section 508 Guidelines. It also passes the AAA -automated- checks for priority 1, 2, and 3 Web Content Accessibility Guidelines set by the W3C using Cynthia Says and WebXact. I have also taken the time to do the manual checks, and believe that, for the most part, my site is compliant.
